MUZAFFARABAD, June 7: A humanitarian mission of French surgeons led by a former French minister will arrive here in the third week of September, officials said.

In this regard, AJK Chief Secretary Shahid Rafi and United Nations Population Welfare Fund’s (UNFPA) country representative in Pakistan Dr Olivier Brasseur signed the project document at a ceremony held at Kashmir House, Islamabad, on Thursday, the officials said.

The document has already been signed by Prof Bernard Debre, former French minister for International Cooperation and Development and head of an NGO — Action pour la Santi (APS).

Prof Debre had visited Azad Kashmir in January along with Dr Brasseur and held discussions with the AJK government officials on the preparation of the mission whose primary objective was to contribute towards improvement of the quality of life in Azad Kashmir through the treatment and prevention of reproductive health conditions.
