MUZAFFARABAD, June 7: The AJK government will spend Rs30 million with the cooperation of the army to widen and improve road links in the Neelum Valley to keep them motorable for all seasons.
This was announced by AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan at a meeting held here on Friday to review the situation in the valley that runs along the restive Line of Control and has seen enormous material losses in the Indian shelling over the past decade.
AJK forests minister Mufti Mansoor, health minister Sardar Yaqoob Khan, adviser to PM Raja Farooq Haider and senior officials from different departments attended the meeting.
The premier observed that the unrelenting and intense shelling by Indian troops had badly damaged roads in the Neelum Valley and therefore speedy steps were required to ensure that there was no shortage of basic necessities in the area.
