KARACHI, June 6: Unknown persons shot dead a man outside a mosque in North Nazimabad, block-B, early Friday morning.

Police said Siyal Khan, 60, was going into the Siddiqui-i-Akbar Mosque for Fajar prayers when some unknown men riding a motorcycle opened fire at him and fled. The deceased was a retired army official.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for the postmortem examination. The motive behind the crime has not yet been determined.

A watchman was shot dead by armed men in Gulzar-i-Hijri late Thursday night.

Police said that Qadir Baksh, a chowkidar of a farm in Lasi goth, was shot dead by armed men who had entered the premises to commit a robbery.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Sources at the hospital said that the victim had died on the spot. Police registered an FIR against unknown persons.

Unknown armed men shot dead a young man near Al-Asif Square in Gulzar-i-Hijri late Thursday night.

Police said that Mohammad Aslam, 25, an Afghan national, was shot dead by two unknown motorcyclists near his house.

The injured was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police see personal enmity as a possible motive behind the killing.

A young man was shot dead during in Site on Friday.

Police said that at Ghani Chowrangi two armed men intercepted Abdul Rasheed, who was riding a motorcycle. They attempted to snatch the vehicle at gunpoint. When the young man tried to resist, they shot him and tried to flee. A police mobile patrolling the area chased the suspects and arrested them.

The suspects were identified as Shakir and Saleh Mohammad. Police said they recovered a weapon from their possession.

The injured was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
