TV movie on Hillary planned

Published June 7, 2003

NEW YORK, June 6: Fast on the heels of her autobiography due to be on book stands on Monday, a movie on Hillary Rodham Clinton’s life is being developed by a network.

According to a report in the New York Post the A&E Network is developing an original movie about Hillary Clinton, based on another best-selling book “7Hillary’s Choice,” which is an unauthorized biography by Vanity Fair writer Gail Sheehy.

The network hopes to have the film ready to air sometime in 2004. The book follows the lives of Bill and Hillary starting in 1992 as they move into the White House, deals with her husband’s affair with Monica Lewinsky and follows her political career leading up to her Senate election.

“I can’t think of a more emotional or relevant personal history or saga than that of Senator Clinton,” A&E’s chief programmer Robert DeBitetto told the Post. “We think it’ll make fantastic entertainment . . . The story’s got all the elements, it’s got humour, there’s pathos, drama, relevance and topicality,” he added.

“Hillary’s Choice” was published in 2000 during her race for the Senate and is an unauthorized biography about the former first lady. It is considered to be an unflattering but fair assessment of Hillary in her personal and professional life.
