LAHORE: A minor girl was allegedly raped Thursday in the limits of Lahore’s Race Course area, DawnNews reported.

The girl, hailing from Kasur, had reportedly come to visit her grand-mother in Race Course on account of Eidul Azha when she was raped. The report, however, does not specify how the rape took place.

She was immediately shifted to Lahore’s Services Hospital where her treatment is underway and is said to be completed soon.

The victim’s family alleged that a 20-year-old youth Nadeem, who is a fruit vendor in the Race Course area, raped the girl. Police have reportedly arrested the suspect who is also a resident of the area and lodged an FIR against him on an application submitted by the girl’s parents.

Earlier last month, a five-year-old girl was left outside Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Lahore after being brutally raped by unidentified men for more than an hour. The incident shocked the nation and was widely condemned. Her perpetrators are still at large and the police have been unable to make any arrests despite the passage of several weeks.
