ISLAMABAD, June 2: A high-level meeting decided here on Monday to remove NWFP chief secretary and Inspector General of Police to improve the law and order situation there.

According to official sources, the meeting presided over by President Gen Pervez Musharraf decided to “get tough” with the violators of law in the NWFP.

“No more flexibility for the MMA (Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal) government in the NWFP,” said a participant of the meeting. He alleged that the workers and the activists of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal were creating a serious law and order situation in the province by removing sign boards, etc., and that the federal government would not tolerate this anymore.

The sources said that apparent widening of differences between the government and the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal were leading to serious problems that might shortly invite constitutional steps in the province.
