LARKANA, June 2: Sindh Revenue Minister Altaf Hussain Unnar has said the provincial government has taken up the matter of occupying Sindh’s land by railways with the railways ministry.

He was talking to this correspondent here on Monday.

Mr Unnar said Sindh had allotted a specific piece of land for construction of railway stations and laying tracks but the railways had encroached on more land.

He disclosed that inquiry had also been initiated into the allotment of land in Sindh by the previous government. He said the land was allotted in violation of rules.

Commenting on the formation of the ‘Khidmat group’ in the lead of MPA Sultan Khuhawar, he said Mr Khuhawar at a meeting with him had presented a set of demands, including declaring Shahdadkot and Umarkot new districts and making Mehrabpur a sub-division. He refuted the claim of Syed Pir Shah, the joint secretary of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q, that Mr Khuhawar was promised a ministry.

The minister said the Sindh government would lift the ban on recruitment in July. He said an EDO, revenue, would soon be posted in Larkana.

DPO: The DPO, investigation, Abdul Sattar Detho, has given DSPs 14 days to complete probes being made into murder cases.

Talking to this correspondent on Monday, the DPO said 22 murder cases were pending with the investigation police.
