MIRPURKHAS, Dec 12: The meeting of the district council, Mirpurkhas, to constitute committees for the district government was held at the Syed Gulab Nabi Shah Hall on Wednesday.
Yawar Hussain chaired the meeting due to the absence of the district Naib Nazim, Younus Talpur.
The meeting was postponed for an indefinite period when some members pointed out the quorum. Some opposition members including three lady councillors left the hall.
Later, the proceedings of the meeting resumed as Naib Nazim Younus Talpur arrived there.
Different committees were formed for the government departments.
The DCO, Mirpurkhas, Mir Hussain Ali, was also present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, speaking at a press conference, Zulfiqar Junejo, opposition leader of the district council, Mirpurkhas, said that after announcement to postpone the meeting some 33 members had left the hall and went back to their homes. But the Nazim and Naib Nazim arrived later and started proceeding the meeting, which was illegal and constituted illegal committees through illegal election.
He added that the committees had already been formed in a meeting held at the Jilani House on Wednesday morning under the leadership of Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani.
He alleged that the illegal proceedings of the meeting proved that the district Nazim and the Naib Nazim wanted the power devolution plan to fail by making it a dummy in the hands of a political party.

DRIVER: A truck driver, Dad Khan, was arrested for selling 60 bags of cotton belonging to the Indus Cotton Factory on Sunday.
The bags containing 180 maunds of cotton had been loaded into the truck (RIL-5988) from Phuladiyoon and were being sent to the Indus Cotton Factory in Sanghar.
Anbomal Lohano, partner of the Indus Cotton Factory, lodged an FIR at the Sanghar police station stating that his manager, Khamromal, had sent 60 bags of cotton in a truck to Sanghar but the truck driver had taken the cotton bags somewhere else and had sold them in the market.
