SUKKUR, Dec 12: A police constable was killed and nine others including one SHO and three ASIs were wounded in a gun battle between outlaws and police in village Qasim Banglani near Garhi Khairo, district Jacobabad, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Reports reaching here said that Dodapur and Mohamma-dpur police received a secret information that a notorious gang of bandits was encamped in Qasim Banglani village.

On this information strong contingent of police surrounded the village and ordered the outlaws to surrender.

Sensing danger the outlaws opened fire on the police party killing police constable Ayaz Khoso on the spot. The outlaws then fled.

Retaliating the police entered into the houses and arrested some women.

The dacoits on this information returned to the village and started target firing on the policemen who had entered the houses.

As a result nine police personnel were wounded and rushed to the Rahimyar Khan and Larkana hospitals.

Those injured included SHO Dodapur, Ghulam Hussain Mari, ASI Allah Dad Kalar, ASI Abdul Aziz of Mohammadpur police, ASI Hafeezullah Awan of Garhi Khairo police, head constable Sahib Faqir, constable Rahim Bukhsh, constable Shah Mohammad, and constable Abdul Nabi.

Later heavy police force was called up from Jacobabad and Larkana and DIG Larkana range Fayyaz Leghari with SSP Jacobabad rushed to the site.

The police cordoned the village, conducted house to house search, recovered some arms and picked up some 20 persons including some women.

Police sources said that the outlaws had entered into the forest and encounter was expected any time.

TWO KILLED: Two persons, a father and a son, were gunned down by their rivals near Kandhkot bus stand on Tuesday.

Police sources said 60 year old Jaro and his son Ghulam Mustufa came in Kandhkot to appear in the court of Additional Session Judge, Kandhkot.

After hearing of the case, they were returning to their village in a tonga. When they reached near bus stand, three gunmen on motorcycle appeared on the scene and opened indiscriminate fire, killing both of them on the spot.

Sources said two groups of Sawand tribe were at war since last one year over a buffalo theft case and so far three persons have lost their lives over the issue . No arrest was reported till filing of this report.

WOMAN KILLED: Dacoits armed with automatic weapons broke into the house of Mr. Ali Bux Jatoi, in Nusrat Colony No 5, old Sukkur. They overpowered two women and on resistance strangulated Mst. Zarina wife of Ali Bux Jatoi and later looted cash, ornaments and gold bangles and fled, which caused panic and harassment in the area. Police were investigating.
