BAHAWALPUR, June 2: Justice Farrukh Mahmood Malik of Lahore High Court, Bahawalpur bench, accepted the unconditional apology of Shahid Khokhar, senior patrol officer of the motorway police, on Monday.

Mr Khokhar had on May 27 issued a ticket for overspeeding to Justice Malik on the Bahawalpur-Multan highway. The judge served on him a show-cause notice for not extending protocol and showing respect to a flag car.

Mr Khokhar through his counsel submitted unconditional apology which was accepted.

MMA LEADER: Deputy parliamentary leader of MMA in the Punjab Assembly and Jamaat-i-Islami’s Punjab naib amir Dr Syed Wasim Akhtar at a press conference here on Monday said the MMA wanted to continue the present democratic setup and was opposed to any move to wrap up the assemblies.

He said the MMA was favouring the demand of separating the offices of president of Pakistan and the chief of army staff and wanted the president to take off his uniform.

He did not approve of the recent rumpus in the Punjab Assembly session and said it was also not fair on the part of treasury to conduct business in the absence of opposition.

Dr Wasim said the Jamaat would launch a drive to resolve people’s problems. He regretted that 7.5 million youth were jobless and their degrees would be displayed on the pushcarts on roads to invite the attention of ruling party.

He demanded the government to set up industry in Bahawalpur to eliminate unemployment.
