RAWALPINDI, June 2: Ittehad-i-Assataza Pakistan (IAP) has asked President Gen Pervez Musharraf to regularize the services of lecturers working on contract basis in the country.

The IAP president, Prof Zulfiqar Haider Malik, in a statement issued here on Monday, said competent teachers had been departing abroad or joining other departments, creating shortage of teachers in the country. Most of the teachers have been waiting to be regularized since 1998, he added. He also expressed concern over the delays in renewing the contracts of teachers each year.
