40 houses gutted, 7 injured

DADU, June 1: Seven people were injured and 40 houses reduced to ashes in two separate incidents of fire in Mehar taluka on Sunday.

Twenty houses were burnt in Bothro village near Mehar town.

The fire broke out in the house of Ghulam Nabi Dahar and later engulfed 19 other houses.

Grain stocks and household items were reduced to ashes.

In another incident, 20 houses were gutted by fire in Jarwar village.

Seven villagers received burn injuries while extinguishing the fire.

Those injured — Mumtaz, Sadiq, Ghulam Nabi, Khamiso, Jam, Subhan and Kamal— were admitted to the taluka hospital, Mehar.

SHOT DEAD: A villager, Rajab Ali, 35, son of Miandad Jhatial, was shot dead by two armed men in Tharo Jhatial village near Radhan on Sunday.

The police have detained two brothers of Rajab.

CLASH: At least six people, including a woman, were injured in an armed clash between two groups of Solangi clan in Khathri Solangi village, Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka on Sunday.

Those injured included Ms Bakhtawar, Ahmed Ali, Hussain Bukhsh, Mohammad Saleh, Mohib Ali and Dost Ali. They were admitted to the taluka hospital, Mehar.

The police have arrested ten persons of both the groups.
