GILGIT, May 31: The police destroyed a locally-made 2.5kg parcel bomb on Thursday in Gilgit River.

The police said that some unknown persons had sent it to the general secretary of Tanzime Ahle Sunnat Northern Areas and Kohistan (TASWJ) Sharafat Khan, who said that the parcel bomb was packed in a gift form that was left at a local bakery in his name on May 26.

Mr Khan said his younger brother brought it home while he was away. The police said it was a bomb, and they destroyed it by throwing it into Gilgit River.
