HYDERABAD, May 31: Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui has advised teachers to acquire a good knowledge in their areas to keep pace with the modern needs.

Speaking as a chief guest on Saturday at a six-day training workshop, sponsored by the higher education commission (HEC) for in-service botany teachers of the university and colleges, the VC said that training courses for teachers in other disciplines would also be organized. He expressed the hope that teachers who were attending training and acquiring knowledge will transfer the same to their students.

He said that the teachers should equip themselves with biological sciences as per the need of the present century. Mr Siddiqui said it was teachers’ responsibility to suggest changes in syllabi. He said the HEC would also be requested to sponsor training workshops for teachers in other disciplines.

Highlighting the aims and objectives of the training course department of botany chairman Dr Zafar Ali Nizamani said the department had actively engaged in research since its establishment in 1956.

Dr Nizamani said that a substantial number of scholars had been awarded PhD and MPhil degrees from this department.

The course coordinator Dr Ahmed Saeeduddin Tirmizi and course participant Prof Nazir Ahmed Qasimi also spoke on the occasion.

CERTIFICATES: The University of Sindh announced on Saturday that the examination department had sent all pass marks certificates of the annual examination of 2002 of BA, BSc, BCom Part-I and II and MA previous and final to colleges concerned.
