TEHERAN, May 30: Foreign ministers of the 57 Organisation of the Islamic Conference states on Friday rejected unilateralism and called for a continued fight against terrorism but said there should be a clear and internationally acknowledged definition in this regard.

In a statement issued at the end of a three-day meeting in Teheran, the ministers expressed concern over an increasing association of Islam and the Muslim world with terrorism.

They called on the Muslim world to condemn terrorism in all its forms.

It called for an international conference to define terror and terrorism and distinguish between terrorism and the “legitimate struggle of occupied nations against alien domination.”

The Muslim states also reiterated their “solidarity with the resistance of the Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese people against occupation,” calling for creation of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital besides demanding “speedy restoration of full Iraqi sovereignty”.

The Muslim states further reiterated their solidarity with the Palestinian resistance against Israeli occupation and called for the creation of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The OIC statement said that “unilateralism and intimidation undermines the cause for freedom and democracy,” while rejecting the “resort to force and unilateral action which undermines freedom and sovereignty of peoples and nations.”—dpa/Reuters
