KARACHI, Sept 16: Mohammad Wasim scored a last-gasp goal as Karachi Port Trust (KPT) halted their run of two successive defeats in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) with a pulsating 3-2 victory over Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) here on Monday.

While the result was a welcome relief for KPT, defeat ended PIA’s recent revival as the came into the game on the back of two straight victories having started their campaign in with two consecutive defeats.

Both teams started the game with great purpose at the Korangi Baloch Stadium, canceling out each other in the first-half which had a few clear-cut chances.Naveed Ahmed broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute to put KPT ahead before Wasim doubled their advantage five minutes later.

Shakir Lashari got PIA back in the game when the former Pakistan international scored in the 71st minute.

PIA levelled matters three minutes later with Ali Adeem Shahzad their scorer.

Both sides then pressed hard for the winner and it arrived in the final minute when Wasim scored on a swift counterattack to seal three precious points for KPT which helped them move above PIA in the standings.

After five matches, KPT have seven points with PIA one behind.
