QUETTA, May 30: The general secretary of the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam), Balochistan, Senator Malik Sarwar Khan Kakar, said on Friday that the tussle in the coalition government was affecting the utilization of funds for development projects in the province.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club, he said that the provincial cabinet was not balanced as the important portfolios had been allocated to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal ministers.

He alleged that ministers from the religious parties had violated the principle of merit while appointing schoolteachers.

Senator Kakar said 800 youths had applied for teachers’ posts in Pishin district but 500 of them boycotted the interviews as members of Jamiat Talaba-i-Islam had interfered in the process.

He said that it was astonishing that the federal government had withheld Rs2 billion of Balochistan’s share for development schemes but the provincial government had failed to completely utilize the remaining Rs3 billion.

He urged the federal government to provide funds for development in the province.
