Pakistan's domestic T20 champions, Faisalabad Wolves, are set to take part in the Champions League T20 after the Misbah-ul-Haq-led team was granted their visas.

The development follows reports in the Indian media that the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had stepped in to get the visas approved for the Pakistani team.

The report in The Indian Express said, “The Prime Minister has overruled the Home Ministry's earlier assessment that Faisalabad Wolves faced a security risk in the country.”

“This is a positive sign,” manager Haroon Rasheed told AFP.

“I think it will be the first step towards reviving Indo-Pak cricket which is so cruelly suspended.”

Members of the Faisalabad squad, the second Pakistan team to compete in the Champions League after the Sialkot Stallions, were asked by the Pakistan Cricket Board to report to the National Cricket Academy in Lahore upon the clearance of their visas. They are scheduled to depart on Saturday while national stars Misbah, Saeed Ajmal and Ehsan Adil will join the team after September 14 upon the completion of the Pakistan-Zimbabwe Test series.

“All the players are very excited and we have no fears as the focus will only be on cricket,” said Rasheed, who played 23 Tests and 12 one-days for Pakistan.

“We have enough experience in Misbah, Saeed Ajmal, Asad Ali and Ehsan Adil and we will do our best to reach the main rounds,” he added.
