SUKKUR, May 29: The adviser to the Sindh chief minister, Syed Manzoor Hussain Shah, has said the government is making efforts to eliminate poverty in the province.

He was presiding over a meeting at the DCO office here on Thursday.

He called upon philanthropists to support the government in eradicating poverty.

The in charge, Baitul Mall, Sukkur, Najamuddin Jamali, informed the meeting that Rs7 million was being distributed among 7,000 registered deserving people.

The chairman, Zakat Committee, Sukkur, Khawaja Munir, said Rs1.92 million was given to poor people for Jahez and rehabilitation.

DCO Pir Ziaul Haq Suharwardi said Rs100 million had been allocated for development schemes in the district.

HESCO: Hesco has announced that 66kv Sukkur city grid station will remain closed from 6am to 12 noon on May 30 due to maintenance work.

The shutdown will affect power supply to Bunder Road, Military Road, Bachal Shah, Mir Masoom Shah and New Barrage areas.
