NEW DELHI, May 28: Activists of the Hindu party Shiv Sena on Wednesday burnt an effigy of a symbolic bus, mimicking the Lahore from New Delhi express, to protest the government’s decision to resume travel links with Lahore.

The activists took out a “funeral procession” of the bus before putting it to flame in New Delhi.

The activists shouted slogans saying that terrorism must end first before the bus service is resumed.

The government had Monday announced that it would resume the bus service and also release 130 Pakistanis held prisoners in Indian jails as a step to normalize relations with Pakistan.

Vajpayee said on Tuesday that New Delhi could take further steps in its effort to normalize ties with Pakistan.—dpa
