Unbeaten 116 by Javed

KARACHI, May 26: An unbeaten knock of 116 by Javed Mansoor, helped Aga Khan Gymkhana XI beat Hussain Merchant XI by nine wickets in the final of the Syed Afzal Shah Under-17 cricket tournament played on Monday at the Aga Khan Gymkhana ground.

Batting first Hussain Merchant XI were bowled out for 172 in 33.1 overs with Asim (33) and Zeeshan (27) among the runs. Naushad Shoukat bagged three wickets for 24 runs.

Chasing 173 runs for victory, AKG raced to 173 for one wicket with Javed Mansoor slamming 116 not out laced with 12 scorching boundaries and two sixes. Salim A. Rahim chipped in with 26 runs.

Javed scoring 350 runs during the tournament was declared the Man of the Match and the Man of the Series.

Summerised scores: Hussain Merchant XI 172 all out in 33.1 overs. Asim (33), Zeeshan (27), Naushad Shoukat three for 24.
