MIRPURKHAS, May 26: Residents of the Mohammad Ali Lashari village, situated in Mirpurkhas Taluka, have demanded a high- level inquiry into the proposed demolition of their 100-year-old village.

Speaking to newsmen they said that their village was spread over six acres but an influential landlord of the area intended to occupy it on one or the other pretext.

They said that in 2002, the village was surveyed twice, declaring it in the proximity of landlord’s land.

Disputing the measurement, they pointed out, they had filed a case in the sessions court, Mirpurkhas, challenging the survey.

On May 24 Mukhtiarkar Mirpurkhas Abdul Hafeez Laghari with a contingent of police reached the village and tried to demolish it. But the villagers, including women, resisted the move.

Later, the administration withdrew police fore and asked Mukhtiarkar to solve the matter in his office.

They called upon authorities to ensure justice to them and take action against the revenue department’s officials who were interfering in subjudice matter.
