LAHORE, May 26: Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat has criticized the combined opposition’s agitation during the assembly session on Monday on the issue of development funds, saying they want to sabotage democracy in the country.
Talking to reporters, the minister said the opposition had not created a rumpus in the House on the issue of development funds. “They have a different agenda otherwise the MMA legislators, who have been released funds, would not have joined the protest. The opposition is doing all this to please their leaders sitting in exile,” he said.
He said the funds were not being given to individual MPAs, but to the constituencies.
He, however, vowed that the Treasury members would participate in Tuesday’s proceedings with a “positive mind and carry out the business as they had done on Monday despite the pandemonium by the opposition”.
