KARACHI, May 26: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar planted a date tree, a gift from Dubai, at Schon Circle in Clifton, on Monday.

With this, he inaugurated the campaign for making Karachi greener and beautiful.

An official statement said a representative of the Dubai ruler had sent to the chief minister some 1,000 date trees as a gift.

Mr Mahar has directed that these trees be planted at the earliest so that they could start giving fruit within one year.

He further directed that more and more trees be planted on the coastal areas of Karachi so as to make the city more beautiful and to control the environmental pollution.

The chief minister stated that more such trees were to come and these too would be planted.

He expressed the confidence that there would be more plantation in the province.

Provincial Minister Saeeda Malik and District Coordination Officer of Karachi Mir Hussain Ali were also present on the occasion.—APP
