SWABI, May 25: The seventh convocation of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology will be held on May 31.

The rector of the institute, Dr Mohammad Naseer Khan, who has recently been awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his services in the field of applied physics, said this at a briefing at his office on Sunday.

He said NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah would be the chief guest on the occasion while diplomats of various countries and ministers are expected to attend the convocation.

The governor will give away degrees to all the graduates and gold medals to the outstanding students of the faculties of mechanical engineering, engineering sciences, electronics engineering, metallurgy and materials sciences and computer science and engineering.

Since the establishment of the institute, he said, 796 students had graduated from it and on May 31, 167 would complete their study. Among them, he said, there were 145 graduate and 22 MS and PhD students.
