KARACHI, Oct 11: The 200 pupils who study at the Government Monotechnical School in New Karachi under the supervision of only six teachers are not only in danger of catching all sorts of diseases whose germs grow at the sewage standing at the school’s compound but also being bitten by one of the many stray dogs that inhabit the school.

“The sewage has been standing in the compound of the school for the past many months. We lodged a complaint with the authorities concerned several times but to no avail,” a student observed.

He said the sewage had found its way in the school when a nearby sewer burst.

Another student said it was hard to concentrate on one’s studies when one was plagued by an unbearable stench at all times.

“I am terrified of dogs.

You can imagine my fear at having to come to a school where no fewer than six stray dogs stalk undeterred,” a student said.
