Three die in accidents

BADIN, Dec 11: Three persons were killed and 17 injured in three separate accidents in different parts of Badin district in the last 48 hours.

A reckless car driver took the lives of an old woman, Ladki, 55 years, and her grand daughter Maral, 12, and injured two minor children, Ghulam Hussain, 8, and Nawaz, 5 years.

The deceased and the injured were waiting for a bus at village Saleh Soomro bus stop on Tando Ghulam Ali road some 55 kilometres from here when a driver lost the control of his car which ran over them.

The injured boys were rushed to taluka hospital Matli as the car driver fled from the scene.

In another incident, a speedy trailer knocked down a boy and crushed him to death when the boy was crossing a road in Matli town near newly constructed bridge at Phuleli Canal.

Trailer driver also fled from the spot.

The accident was so severe that no part of the body of the deceased remained unhurt and taking the body for post-mortem was difficult task. Matli police were investigating.

In the third incident fifteen persons including a bank manager Nisar Ahmed Memon and some workers of Pangrio Sugar Mill were injured when a coaster hit an electric pole after its tie rod broke in front of the mill near here.

The injured found their cash and valuables missing after the accident and alleged that some unidentified persons had taken away the cash valuables taking benefit of the accident.

The injured were identified as Rajab Ahmedani, Allahdino Ahmedani, Rafique, Zafar, and others. The condition of Rajab, Allahdino, and an identified man was critical and they were referred to civil hospital Hyderabad.

The driver and the cleaner fled. Pangrio police are investigating.
