QUETTA, July 20: A strike was observed by traders in Panjgur district on Saturday on the call of the Baloch Republican Party in protest against the dumping of three bullet-riddled bodies in Sui and Karachi.

Trading centres and shops remained closed in support of the strike call.

The Baloch Human Rights Organisation, Baloch National Movement and Baloch Student Organisation-Azad in separate statements condemned the killing of three members of the BRP and said that elimination of political workers allegedly by intelligence agencies exposed the designs of the state against the Baloch people.

The BRP said that party member Ejaz Baloch of Panjgur had gone missing on Jan 24 on the coastal highway and his mutilated body was found in the Manghopir area of Karachi three days ago.

The statement said the party’s central committee member, Shama Bugti’s father Amal Bugti, 82, and his brother Wahid Bugti had been kidnapped on July 16 from Dera Bugti and their mutilated bodies were dumped in the Sui area of Dera Bugti district on Friday. The BRP appealed to the UN and international human rights organisations to take notice serious human rights violations by security forces in Balochistan. —Amanullah Kasi
