GUJRANWALA, May 21: Three members of a family were shot dead and as many sustained serious injuries on Wednesday when their rivals fired on them over an engagement issue in Bhri Shah Rehman village.

Muhammad Hussain had settled the engagement of his son Khizer Hayat with the sister of Tajamul Hussain of Dargahiwala village a few days ago. But his rival Riaz Malhi asked Hussain not to engage his son with Tajamul’s sister. On his refusal, Malhi sprayed a volley of bullets on Hussain and his family members who were present in their house. Consequently, Hussain, his two sons Azmatullah and Khizar Hayat died instantly while three children Idris, Zubair and Sidra received serious injuries. They were rushed to the local DHQ Hospital in critical condition.

Kot Ladha police have registered a case and are investigating.
