KARACHI, Dec 11: A 14-year-old boy and a young man fell victim to reckless driving in the city on Tuesday.

Mohammed Husain, aged 25, died and his friend Mohammed Saeed, aged 30, was injured when they were knocked down by a truck in Mauripur. The truck was travelling at very high speed.

The police said both men were riding on a motorcycle and were passing through Gulbai area when the truck knocked them down. They were rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced Mohammed Husain dead on arrival. Saeed was admitted to the hospital. Police claimed to have arrested the truck driver.

Quoting family sources, police said Husain’s marriage was scheduled to take place three days after Eid.

A 14-year-old boy, Sham Lal, was run over by an unidentified vehicle in Shershah. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

SUICIDE: A man committed suicide in his home at Urdu Bazaar in Shershah in the night.

The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem, Edhi sources said. The dead man’s name had not been ascertained till the filing of this report.

WOUNDED: An elderly couple were shot and injured by an activist of a political party in Lines Area. Police said Ashfaq Baba, aged 65, was brought out of his house at German Chowk by an activist of a political party on the suspicion of the elderly man being a police informer.

ARRESTED: Police claimed to have solved a a murder case after they arrested two suspects on Tuesday. The murder was committed on July 28 this year in PIB Colony.

Farman was found slaughtered in his PIB Colony home and cash and valuables were missing.

Police said they arrested the two suspects, Syed Bilal Ali and Tanveer Aleem Farooqi, both immediate neighbours of the victim.
