ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly session was summoned for June 1 after approval on Monday from Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari.

Government sources told Dawn.com that the nomination papers for the election of the National Assembly's Speaker and Deputy speaker would take place on June 2 whereas the election would be held on June 3.

Similarly the nomination papers for the selection of the leader of the Lower house of the parliament would be submitted on June 4 while the election would be held on June 5.

Moreover, the annual budget session would take place on June 7 in the National Assembly.

The Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz had emerged victorious after the historic May 11 election and the party has chosen its chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for the post of Prime Minister, who when elected would become the first prime minister to hold the post for a third time.
