KARACHI: A low-intensity blast took place in Karachi's Clifton Block-1 area on Tuesday, but did not cause any casualties or serious damage, DawnNews reported.

According to the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) personnel, the bomb was  fitted in a pot near the red zone  that houses key establishments such as the Bilawal House.

Moreover, four kilograms of explosives, ball bearings and nuts were used in the manufacture of the device.

BDS personnel said the detonation device of the bomb exploded but failed to ignite the explosive material resultantly averting a major blast.

Security personnel cordoned off the area as investigations into the explosion went underway.

Meanwhile, a mortar bomb exploded at a junk shop in the Lalabad area of Sukhan, injuring two persons.

Police and BDS personnel reached the site of incident and recovered another 15 mortar shells from the shop.

No arrests were reported until the filing of this report.
