ISLAMABAD, May 19: The President of International Boxing Federation (IBF) prof. Anwar Chaudhary, insists that International Olympic Committee (IOC) does set a rule for limiting the tenure of its office-bearers.

“The rule 4.2 of IOC charter clearly says that a vice president cannot be elected for another term”, declared Chaudhary who has been heading the international body for three decades now and is also the President of Pakistan Amateur Boxing Federation (PABF).

Chaudhary said he accepted the national sports policy but added the policy was wrong because it treats horse and donkey at a par.

He said he had brought about changes in international amateur boxing since taking over as its President.

“The power blow has been reduced by 70-80 percent with such changes as headgear and thickening of gloves etc.”

“The blows are now like baby blows and there is no blood flowing now in the amateur boxing ring,” he said.

He thanked President Pervez Musharraf for patronising boxing which won Pakistan more than half the medals in such international competitions as Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.

He also called for accountability of those federations which failed to deliver.—APP
