PESHAWAR, Dec 11: As many as 10,000 posts of school teachers and 600 of lecturers are vacant in the NWFP.

This was stated by the provincial education and information minister, Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, at a press briefing here on Tuesday.

The minister said the governor had permitted the education department to fill 2,000 posts of school teachers in the near future.

Six hundred college lecturer posts in different disciplines were also vacant, he said, adding that the public service commission had been asked to fill 97 of the posts.

Mr Gilani announced that technical education would be introduced at the matriculation level soon.—PPI
