GILGIT, April 28: A three-day exhibition of handicrafts under the auspices of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan was opened at a local hotel on Sunday. The event was inaugurated by the member GB Legislative Assembly Amna Ansari.

Fifty stalls of various products prepared from all over Pakistan were put on display at the exhibition.

Renowned dress designer Shahida Rehman is also participating in the exhibition on the special invitation of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan.

Officials said the exhibition encouraged the women of Gilgit to boost their entrepreneurial skills.

LG POLLS: The local government elections in Gilgit-Baltistan will be held in November this year.

Sources in the local government department informed on Sunday that the Gilgit-Baltistan government had released an amount of Rs60 million to meet the expenses of elections.

The sources said the local government department and the National Database and Registration Authority will ink an agreement under which the latter will prepare electoral lists in two months time to ensure free and transparent elections to the local bodies.

The sources said the government believed in empowering people at the grass root level.
