QUETTA, May 18: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said on Sunday all issues between Pakistan and India, including Kashmir dispute, would be resolved amicably.

Talking to newsmen at the airport on his arrival from Islamabad on a two-day visit to Quetta, he expressed the optimism for the success of negotiations going on between the government and opposition on the Legal Framework Order.

Referring to positive signals coming from New Delhi, the prime minister said dialogue was the only way to resolve controversial issues.

Mr Jamali said his government had broken deadlock in Pakistan-India ties and added that if this spirit of goodwill on part of both countries continued then all issues could be resolved through dialogue.

Referring to the nature of relations between India and Pakistan, he said disputes could not be resolved overnight, adding revival of contact between the two was the first step in normalization of bilateral relations.

Noting that talks between the government and opposition members were continuing in a spirit of goodwill, Mr Jamali expressed the hope that in next few days the constitutional committee would finalize its recommendations on the LFO.

He said people wanted the democratic system to continue, therefore everybody should strive to resolve the issue keeping in view the aspirations of people.

In reply to a question about apprehensions of various political groups on mega-projects in Gwadar, the prime minister said his visit was aimed at taking all groups into confidence in this regard and added that talks would soon be initiated with them.

Referring to the National Finance Commission award, he said just rights of all provinces would be protected and added the government would strive to accommodate proposals of all federating units in the distribution of resources.

He expressed the belief that differences could be sorted out mutually through negotiations.
