Sikander shines

LAHORE, May 18: Sikander Ali Khan helped Punjab to clinch the inter-provincial Under-16 swimming championship with 140  points at Model Town Club pool on Sunday.

Sikander, who bagged 13 golds, was declared as best swimmer as Punjab accumulated 77 points. Sindh obtained 75 points to finish second while NWFP with 33 points remained third.

In all, Punjab got 13 gold medals, six silver and four bronze medals. Sindh captured five gold medals and six silver.

200m individual medley: Sikander Ali Khan (Punjab) 3 minutes; Ghulam Mohammad (Sindh); Azeem Ali (Punjab).

100m freestyle: Sikander Ali Khan (Punjab) 1 min 95 sec; Faizan Khan (Punjab); Ghulam Mohammad (Sindh).

100m backstroke: Sikander Ali Khan (Punjab) 1 min 23 sec; Mursal Butt (Punjab); Khan Taj (NWFP).

100m breaststroke: Sikander Ali Khan (Punjab) 1 min 25 sec; Farman Asrar (NWFP); Faizan Khan (Punjab).

50m freestyle: Sikander Ali Khan (Punjab) 27.22 sec; Ghulam Murtaza (Sindh); Hasnain Mahmood (Punjab).

50m butterfly: Sikander Ali Khan (Punjab) 31 sec; Ghulam Mohammad (Sindh); Imran Hyder (NWFP).

4x100m freestyle: Punjab, Sindh, Islamabad.
