Removal of poplar trees ordered

Published May 19, 2003

ABBOTTABAD, May 18: The cantonment executive officer has set May 30 as the deadline for the removal of poplar trees from the cantonment area, which was causing pollen allergy in the city.

The district government has failed to take such step despite the unanimous approval of a resolution in the distinct council one year back.

The citizens have raised a voice of concern over the increasing incidents of pollen allergy as currently the urban areas are badly hit by the waste of the poplar trees and white wool was causing asthma with cough.

The people, who contracted the disease, are mostly schoolchildren and senior citizens.
