KASUR, May 18: Two members of a family were killed while 11 others received serious injuries on Saturday night in an accident near BS Link Canal on the Multan Road, Phoolnagar.

Thirteen family members of Johar Town, Lahore, were going to Multan by Pajero. Their vehicle slammed into the grille of the canal when the driver lost control over the steering after the vehicle suddenly caught fire.

Consequently, Ghazanfar Ali and Ashiq died instantly while 11 other family members sustained critical injuries. A woman and a teenager, who fell into the canal, were saved by the area people. The injured — Kashif, Salma Bibi, Umar Tahir, Sajida Bibi, Basharat Ali, Riaz and three others were rushed to Services Hospital, Lahore, for their critical condition. The vehicle was completely damaged.

Phoolnagar police are looking into the matter.
