QUETTA, May 18: Opposition leader in the Balochistan Assembly, Kachkol Ali, has blamed political parties of not allowing democracy to flourish and helping army in overthrowing political governments.

Speaking at the Quetta Press Club’s ‘meet the press’ programme, he said the Balochistan National Movement (BNM) had tried its best to strengthen nationalist politics.

“Invisible forces always created hurdles in the way of democracy, they did not recognize the Constitution and toppled all political setups,” he said and added that the political parties had also not played their due role for strengthening democratic institutions.

He said that instead of tolerating each other, political parties supported the army in ousting elected governments and in this connection former prime ministers Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif played a vital role.

The BNM leader said Balo-chistan badly needed a real nationalist leader who could lead them in their struggle for their rights.

He said the tribal chiefs violated the human rights but they had the same thinking about the protection of the province’s resources.

“We want an alliance or merger with Nawab Marri, Nawab Bugti, Nawab Raisani and Sardar Ataullah Mengal,” Mr Ali said. He suggested the name of Nawab Khair Bukhsh Marri for leading the alliance.

There is no ambiguity about whether very high inflation devastates society; but economists are not entirely sure how much influence high interest rates hold in controlling inflation.
