THE written test for various posts of teaching faculty was to be held on Jan 16 at the main Islamabad campus of Allama Iqbal Open University, but due to Dr Tahirul Qadri’s long march and sit-in, it was postponed.

When we tried to get the information from the university staff, nobody gave any proper information.

I and another candidate from Sindh met the assistant registrar whose signature and name was written on the call letter.

He told us that he did not have the exact information regarding the next date of the test, but it would be probably in the first week of February.

Many candidates came from all provinces of Pakistan.

When they reached the main gate of Allama Iqbal Open University, there was a message on the wall that all the tests had been postponed and the university would send the applicants another letter for the next date of test.

However, we have not received any letter from them as yet.

The question is: Why didn’t they inform the candidates about the postponement of the test two or three days before the test date to save time?

If we talk about the expenditure involved for transportation and accommodation for a candidate from a region in Sindh, the fare is almost Rs3000 by road/train and accommodation in Islamabad is too expensive.

I request the vice-chancellor of AIOU to announce the date for the test as soon as possible and compensate the candidates by reimbursing the expenditure borne by them.
