THE SPSC has announced the posts for lecturer in the Education and Literacy Department. The form, which is available online, has a mandatory section where the candidate is required to write his caste.

I have serious objection to this. Why is this mandatory and not optional to write caste while filling the online application form? I just want to know the logic behind it. When a person is asked for domicile and permanent residence certificate, the need to inquire further about his caste does not seem logical.

It supports the allegations of discrimination and nepotism in the process of hiring as candidates are being screened and scrutinised on the basis of their caste by the authorities concerned.

Furthermore, making it compulsory forces many people to mislead the authorities concerned about their details.

The SPSC should immediately remove this section from the form.
