TOBA TEK SINGH, May 17: The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) of Gojra has suggested raise in teh bazari fee by 1,400 per cent to 2,000 per cent, it is learnt on Saturday.

The TMA invited objections from the public over the proposed raise till June 12 and hearing on these objections would be held on June 16 while the raise would be implemented in the financial year 2003-4.

The proposed raise is: from paisas 60 per square foot (sqf) per month to Rs15 per sqf per month for the shops situated from railway station to Sadar octroi post and Masjid Chowk, from paisas 60 per sqf to Rs12 per sqf for shops on Toba Road, from paisas 75 per sqf to Rs20 per sqf for shops in Anarkali Bazaar, from Rs1.20 per sqf to Rs15 per sqf for shops on Moongi Road, from Rs1.80 per sqf to Rs15 per sqf for shops in Samdani Market, Lorry Adda Bazaar, Quaid-i-Azam Road and Gadda Khana chowk, from Rs1.80 per sqf to Rs20 per sqf for shops in Rail Bazaar, from Rs1.20 per sqf to Rs20 per sqf for shops near railway crossing to Mehdi Mohalla Chowk, from Rs1.20 per sqf to Rs12 per sqf for shops on Noor Masjid Road, from Rs1.35 per sqf to Rs15 per sqf for shops on National Bank Road, from Rs1.20 per sqf to Rs12 per sqf for shops on Eidgah and Cinema roads.

The rent of kiosks in every town has also been decided to raise from Rs100 to Rs200 per month.

Meanwhile, an anti-encroachment drive launched on Tuesday by and the Gojra TMA, continued on Saturday. The TMA staff took away goods put on display by shopkeepers outside their shops.
