KARACHI, May 17: Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad has called for providing all necessary facilities to the relevant people under the Lyari Expressway Resettlement programme.

In this regard, he called for ensuring the provision of water, health, sanitation, roads, sewerage and education facilities.

He issued a directive for providing relief as per law in connection with leased houses.

He was presiding over a meeting which was attended, among others, by Planning and Development Minister Shoaib Bukhari, NHA Chairman Maj-Gen Farrukh, Principal Secretary Akhtar Zamin, Additional Chief Secretary (P&D) Ghulam Sarwar Khehro and Project Director Shafiqur Rehman Paracha.

Gen Farrukh briefed the governor on the project and its progress.

The governor directed the minister for P&D to visit the resettlement sites with the officials concerned so that elements of justice and transparency were ensured. He stressed on resolving all matters amicably.

He told the meeting that “we all have to stand accountable before Allah and everyone should work in the larger interest of the city and people”.

The governor laid emphasis on the construction of wider roads and streets, the provision of due facilities and continuous upgradation of the system for future in the Lyari Expressway Resettlement scheme. He said the it was a project of great significance and an essential need of the city and it should be completed while removing all public reservations about it.—APP
