SUKKUR, June 30: A teenage girl managed to escape from her captors who had detained her in a hideout in katcha area for 20 days and reached Mirpur Mathelo police station along with her father for protection on Sunday.

Thirteen-year-old Hira, daughter of Allah Wadhayo Jatoi, told police that she was kidnapped from her house in Munshi Muhalla, Khairpur city, about 20 days ago. Her captors belonged to Jatoi Turit clan and their ringleader appeared to be one Pervez who kept her in the riverain area of Raunti near Ubauro, she said.

She said the kidnappers had demanded Rs2.5 million ransom from her father for her release. On Sunday, one of the captors left his cell phone at the house which she used to contact her family and inform them about the place where she had been kept, she said, adding but before they came she found an opportunity to flee.

Mirpur Mathelo police informed Khairpur police about the girl because the case of her kidnapping was lodged there and handed her over to them for further action.
