ATTOCK: May 16: The complete mechanical run of first power unit turbine of Ghazi Barotha Hydropower Project (GBHP) was successfully tested on Friday.

The Wapda chairman, Lt-Gen Zulfiqar Ali Khan (retired), GBHP general manager, Brig Tareen Khan, and other high officials of the project were also present there to monitor the function of the Turbine.

Sources said the turbine was run on experimental basis for few hours to observe its mechanical function without generating electricity. Different other tests of the turbine and power unit would be carried out time to time, the sources added.
