I FOUND the article ‘In the shadow of Begum Ra’ana’ in Sunday Images of Dawn (June 2) to be interesting. I appreciate the writer giving credit to Begum Ra’ana for launching APWA in Karachi.

However, I would like to add that the writer has missed to mention the name of the guiding soul behind the launching of this venerable association. The late Lady Abdullah Haroon, a commendable philanthropist, nonetheless self-abnegating person, was instrumental in launching APWA. She devoted her time, energy and financial resources to this end.

I assert that without the efforts of Lady Haroon the birth of APWA would have been difficult, if not impossible. I hope my humble effort to give credit to where it truly belongs would be taken in a constructive light.
