KARACHI, May 14: Construction of three new buildings meant for three science departments at the University of Karachi is to be started on Thursday (May 15).

These departments are already functional but in view of the increase in enrolments and inadequate facilities, particularly with regard to practical teaching, construction of the new buildings was over due.

A spokesman for the university said that the chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Prof Attaur Rehman, would perform the earth-breaking for the departments of Applied Physics, Biotechnology and Food Science & Technology.

The federal government is funding the project and after its completion, process of providing modern scientific equipment would start, said the spokesman adding that the new well-equipped departments would surely help improve the standard of teaching and research work further.

Meanwhile, according to a KU press release, Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Saied Saify has said that the work for the construction of a building for Business School, formerly Department of Business Administration, would also be started soon.

BBA RESULTS: The University of Karachi notified semester examinations results of BBA within seven days to save the students’ academic year, according to the KU press release issued here on Wednesday, adds PPI.

Many colleges have already received the results of BBA (Pass) and principals of the remaining colleges have been directed to receive the same and submit examination forms for the next semester so as to ensure holding of examination on time.
