RAWALPINDI, May 11: Col Shahid Hamid Jaffery, manager of the Pakistan hockey team, who died of cardiac arrest in Lahore on Saturday, was laid to rest at the Army graveyard, Racecourse ground here on Sunday.
His funeral prayers was attended by the President of Pakistan Hockey Federation, Gen Muhammad Aziz Khan, Corps Commander Rawalpindi, Lt-Gen Syed Arif Hasan, coach of the hockey team, Shahnaz Shaikh, his friends, relatives and others.
In his first international assignment, Col Jaffery, 53 had helped Pakistan team win last March’s Azlan Shah Cup tournament in Malaysia.—Reporter
