GLASGOW, May 10: Celtic moved three points clear of Rangers at the top of the Scottish premier league with a 1-0 victory over third-placed Hearts on Saturday.

Midfielder Alan Thompson’s 29th-minute penalty continued Celtic’s fine run, leaving

Martin O’Neill’s side on course to seal their third straight title with two matches remaining.

Rangers have the chance to draw level with their arch-rivals when they play fourth-placed Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Grant Brebner’s 66th-minute penalty gave Hibernian a 1-0 victory over bottom club Motherwell, and Charlie Miller’s injury-time goal earned struggling Dundee United a 2-1 win at Livingston, their first victory in seven matches.
